Local Guide.

Local Guide is a small family run glacier guiding company that has been operating in South East Iceland since 1991.

They have maintained an excellent reputation, they hire local guides with an excellent knowledge of the area and the island as a whole and offering small group tours to enhance your experience.

In the summer months they offer hiking on the glacier with half day hikes, family tours and full day advanced tours for those who want an even greater adventure on the ice. During the winter months, from October to March, they offer ice caving tours.

Other places nearby are Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, Laki craters and Landmannalaugar.

The closest supermarket is 25 km away in Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

This village has some nice hiking trails as well as gas station, restaurant/café and a swimming pool.

There is also a small store in Freysnes close to Skaftafell National Park for those that are coming to us from direction East.

Visit South is a great source to find activities, restaurants, and to be inspired when travelling in the South Coast of Iceland.
